Unveiling the 2026 Polestar 3: Price Cut and Exciting Specs (2026)

The 2026 Polestar 3 is an electric SUV that has been updated with significant changes, including new electric motors, batteries, and an 800-volt architecture. The car is now priced at $116,700 before on-road costs, a $1720 reduction from the previous model. The Plus package is now standard, adding new features without the need for an additional $9000 cost. The Polestar 3's 800-volt architecture supports direct-current charging at a peak rate of 350 kilowatts, an improvement from the 250 kilowatts of the previous model. This results in a 10 to 80 per cent charge taking as little as 22 minutes, a 25 per cent improvement. The battery capacity has also been adjusted, with a 92kWh unit in the rear-wheel drive grade and a 106kWh battery in all-wheel drive grades. The rear electric motor is newly developed, and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Performance grade now delivers up to 500kW, an increase from 380kW. The car also features an automatic disconnect function for the front electric motor, which improves efficiency and range during everyday driving. The Polestar 3 has been updated with refined steering and anti-roll bars for a more engaging driving experience. The car is now fitted with a more powerful Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor, capable of completing 245 trillion operations per second, up from 30 trillion. Existing Polestar 3 vehicles will receive a complimentary hardware upgrade. The 2026 model features simplified, renamed grades, with the 'Long range single motor' becoming 'Rear Motor', 'Long range dual motor' becoming 'Dual Motor', and 'Long range dual motor with Performance pack' becoming 'Performance'. Active air suspension is now an optional accessory, while an electrochromic glass roof is available as a standalone option. The Polestar 3 offers new exterior color options, including Storm (grey) and Krypton (green), and updated interior finishes. The Dual Motor grade has increased in price by $46, while the Performance grade is up by $3946. However, these grades have dropped by $11,654 and $7754, respectively, when factoring in the previously optional Plus package. The 2026 Polestar 3 will arrive in Australian showrooms in the middle of this year, with order books now open. The prices for the 2026 Polestar 3 in Australia are as follows: Polestar 3 Rear Motor – $116,700, Polestar 3 Dual Motor – $131,100, and Polestar 3 Performance – $146,700. The car comes with a range of standard features, including a 245kW/480Nm rear electric motor, a 604-kilometre WLTP driving range rating, a 92kWh lithium-ion battery, and a 310kW maximum DC charge speed. The Polestar 3 also includes a 25-speaker, 1610-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound audio system with Dolby Atmos support, a head-up display, and a PM2.5 air quality sensor and filter. The car offers a range of individual options, including 21-inch Plus wheels, charcoal wool with Aluminium decoration, and heated steering wheels. The 2026 Polestar 3 is available in various colors, including Storm (grey), Krypton (green), Magnesium (silver), Space (black), Midnight (blue), and Snow (white).
