Valentino's Fall 2026 Fashion Show: A Roman Extravaganza at Palazzo Barberini (2026)

Valentino's Creative Director Alessandro Michele Unveils Fall 2026 Show at Rome's Baroque Palazzo Barberini

In a bold move, Valentino's creative director, Alessandro Michele, has chosen the 17th-century Palazzo Barberini in Rome as the venue for the brand's highly anticipated fall 2026 fashion show on March 12. This decision comes as a tribute to Rome and Valentino's rich history, with a particular nod to the city's Baroque style and architectural grandeur.

The show will be a special occasion, marking the first time a fashion show has been held at this iconic location. It's a significant departure from the brand's usual Parisian setting, with Valentino temporarily moving to Rome for this exclusive event. The decision is also a poignant one, coming just months after the passing of the brand's founder, Valentino Garavani, in January at the age of 93.

Palazzo Barberini, designed by the renowned architects Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Francesco Borromini, is a testament to the Baroque style. It houses the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, Italy's main collection of antique paintings, further emphasizing its cultural significance. Michele's connection to Rome is evident, as he has strong ties to the city, having previously held Gucci's cruise 2020 collection at the Capitoline Museums, the world's oldest art and archaeological museums.

Michele's appointment as creative director of Valentino in March 2024, succeeding Pierpaolo Piccioli, has brought a new era of creativity and innovation to the brand. The fall 2026 show will be a celebration of this new chapter, showcasing the brand's unique vision and artistic expression.

This isn't the first time Valentino has graced Rome with its presence. In July 2022, Piccioli unveiled the brand's fall 2022 haute couture on Piazza Mignanelli and the iconic Spanish Steps. The upcoming show will also coincide with a special exhibition, 'Bernini and the Barberinis,' marking the 400th anniversary of the consecration of the new Saint Peter's Basilica. Curated by Andrea Bacchi and Maurizia Cicconi, the exhibit will explore the relationship between Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Maffeo Barberini, the first patron who became Pope Urban VIII in 1623 and discovered the artist.

With the show fast approaching, all eyes are on Rome as Valentino prepares to showcase its latest collection in a truly remarkable setting. The fashion world eagerly awaits this unique event, marking a significant moment in the brand's history and a celebration of Rome's rich cultural heritage.
